Everyone sits or stands around in a round around the piling of presents. Ready slips of paper adequate to the amount of gifts with understandably written numbers. Be sure to separate 6 from 9, 1 from 7. Each active invitee selects a number and carries onto that slip of paper. On the first turn, the invitee with paper slip #1 takes a gift, opens it, and all admire it. On the next turn, the invitee with paper slip #2 gets the option of “thieving” any unwrapped present (#1’s) or taking a wrapped one. If #2 bargains #1’s gift, then #1 must open a wrapped present. On the third turn, the guest with paper slip #3 gets the option of “stealing” any unwrapped gift (#1’s or #2’s) or choosing a wrapped one. If a gift is stolen from you, you can bargain a present, or open a wrapped one.
Rules about “stealing:” A gift cannot be immediately stolen back from the guest who just took it.
The turn carries on until a wrapped present is picked out thus the stealing stops. The fourth “owner” of a gift gets to keep it. The gift is “dead” after it has been stolen 3 times. “Owners” of “live” gifts must keep them visible and hold them up when invited. The gift exchange ends when the last wrapped present is opened. Normally, invitees are encouraged to perpetuate the present stealing as long as there are “live” presents, but no one is indebted to do this.

There are plenty of activities to select from. Easy games like Bingo can be transformed into themed occasion games with the substitution and modifications of a few regulations.
