New Internet Packages for Virgin Media Users on the Go
Friday, March 12th, 2010
Virgin Media has introduced a new range of internet services to its customers who travel abroad. Currently Virgin users pay a sum as high as £5 for downloading a megabyte of data when they are travelling abroad; however with the introduction of the new plans users will pay much lower amounts for the same service.
Earlier, pay as you go customers as well as contractual customers paid the same amount- £5. However, with the introduction of the new travel passes, mobile broadband users will be able to choose the plans according to their usage and the duration of their stay. This will help customers pay lower rates for their internet usage.
Virgin users can now choose from a one day package, 3 days package, one week package and even a month’s package. This will cost anywhere from £10 to £60 depending on the duration and usage. Each MB of usage will cost £1. Activating these plans is designed to be easy and quick. The customer will need to send a text message to the service provider and choose a plan to commence a cost effective internet browsing experience. These passes can also be used to enable internet on handsets. As of now, travel passes will work in all EU countries.
Jonathan Kini, the director of the Mobile Department at Virgin stated that these new plans will make it easy for Virgin subscribers to use the services when they travel abroad. The service provider is working hard to enable users to access data for a relatively lower cost. So now when a customer is travelling abroad he can update his pictures on Facebook or even search for local hot spots by using his laptop (see laptop mobile deals) and internet service.
